Most sleep supplements are solving the wrong half of the problem.
Your stress system is supposed to follow a curve. It rises in the morning to get you moving and falls through the evening so you can stop. When that curve flattens out, you get a pattern most people recognize immediately. Flat at 2pm. Alert at 11pm. In bed and unable to stop thinking.
By the time you lie down, your body has been running in the on position for sixteen hours. Nothing about being horizontal tells it to stop.
Almost every product in this category treats that as a nighttime problem. It isn't. It's a daytime problem that shows up at night.
Melatonin tells your body when, not how.
Melatonin is a timing signal. It's the molecule that says the sun has gone down. That's useful if your problem is the clock, which is why it works reasonably well for jet lag and shift work.
It's much less useful if your problem is that your nervous system is still keyed up. It can get you to sleep and do nothing about waking at 3am, because it never addressed why you were activated in the first place.
That's the gap most people fall into. The dose creeps up, mornings get worse, and the underlying pattern doesn't change.
Two problems need two ingredients.
We built Rytma as two products rather than one because they're doing two different jobs at two different times.
Ashwagandha, during the day. Works on the stress response while you're in it, not after. Taken in the morning and again later, which is why it isn't a bedtime product.
Magnesium glycinate, at night. Works on the downshift once the day is over. A single evening dose.
A single capsule cannot do both jobs, because the two jobs happen twelve hours apart. Anything trying to solve this with one pill at bedtime has already conceded half the problem.
The form of magnesium decides whether you absorb it.
Magnesium is not one ingredient. It's a mineral bound to something else, and what it's bound to changes everything.
Oxide is the cheapest and the most common thing on a drugstore shelf. It's poorly absorbed. If you've ever taken magnesium and felt nothing, this is usually why.
Citrate absorbs better and has a well known effect on digestion that most people don't want at bedtime.
Glycinate is magnesium bound to glycine. It's the form used when the goal is relaxation rather than regularity, and it's the form we use.
Rytma is 275mg of elemental magnesium from 2,500mg of magnesium glycinate. Three capsules, once, in the evening.
The dose has to match what was actually studied.
This is where most of the category quietly fails.
A stress gummy with 100mg of ashwagandha is not a low dose. It's a decoration. The research on this ingredient uses several times that, and a product at a fraction of the studied amount is not a weaker version of the same thing. It's a different thing.
Rytma is 650mg of organic ashwagandha root per capsule, with 5mg of organic black pepper for absorption. One capsule twice daily.
We print the dose on the front of the bottle because the number is the product.
No proprietary blends.
A proprietary blend is a legal way to list ingredients without listing amounts. It lets a label show fourteen impressive names while hiding that most of them are present in trace quantities.
Our ingredient lists are short and fully disclosed. Ashwagandha contains organic ashwagandha root, organic black pepper, and a pullulan capsule. That's the entire formula.
If an ingredient is on our label, the amount is on our label.
What we don't claim.
This is not a sedative and it is not a sleeping pill. It won't knock you out, and if that's what you're looking for, this is the wrong product.
It also doesn't work in a night. Give it three weeks before you judge it. We say that before you buy rather than after, because the most common reason people quit a supplement is that nobody told them the timeline.
